Today is the one year mark until my wedding; 365 days of planning and prepping for the big day has finally arrived!
While nutrition is my passion and is what drives my career, I have always had a love for weddings. If I didn’t go into the healthcare field, I always said I would have done something with the wedding industry. Then I thought of the idea, why can’t I put the two together? Weddings are a great motivator for people to get in shape. While I want to look like myself for my wedding day, there’s nothing wrong with using it as inspiration to become my healthier self.
In the months approaching my wedding, I decided I am going to make myself a Bridal Bootcamp. I will take each month and break down my meals and workouts leading up to the celebration. While sharing tips on nutrition and fitness is what this website is about, I would love to share my wedding planning tips along the way.
June is when spring is in full bloom and summer is right around the corner. That is why I chose to have my wedding in June (along with half of the other brides out there). This month brings lots of my favorite fruits back into season; berries, lemons, peaches and melons! Packed with antioxidants, they are a great way to cool down on those hot summer days.
Watermelon is probably my favorite food, hands down. Since about 90% of the melon is water, it is a great natural hydrator. The high potassium content of the fruit helps replenish the levels lost in sweat. The hydration factor also helps with clear skin and prevents heat stroke. Maybe I should have a watermelon stand at the ceremony if it’s hot enough!
Okay, enough about watermelon, I could go on and on! The reason I am sharing about my big day is because while big celebrations like this help fire motivation, you do not always need an event to take care of yourself. We should always strive to make ourselves healthier from the inside out. Whether you are looking to lose weight, build endurance or just trying to get a little healthier, your number one motivator should always be yourself. Do this for you first, everything and everyone else comes second.
Self-confidence and being comfortable in your own skin is a part of living a healthy lifestyle. To live this healthy lifestyle is about having well rounded balance in every aspect of your life, not just nutrition and exercise.
So here’s to a wild year of planning while finding balance in life!
